Simmers Leads Women's Top 5
At the end of the season, the top five women in the Challenger Series rankings make the Dream Tour. Entering the Vans US Open of Surfing, Caity Simmers is at the front of the pack thanks to three consecutive top five finishes. Even with strong former CT surfers Molly Picklum, Nikki Van Dijk, and Macy Callaghan (plus Sydney winner Teresa Bonvalot) chasing her, it feels like the race is Simmers' to lose. Can the reigning US Open champ create an even bigger lead in Huntington Beach? Watch live August 1-7 here at vansusopenofsurfing.com.
Waida Alone Atop Men's Rankings
The top 10 men in the rankings qualify for the Championship Tour at the end of the Challenger Series season. After stunning back-to-back wins, budding Indonesian star Rio Waida sits all alone atop the leaderboard. Behind him is a mix of proven CT talents (Fioravanti, Callinan, Rodrigues) and exciting new faces (Moffat, Delahaye, Herdy). Can Rio do the unthinkable and win three straight?
Heading into the Vans Duct Tape Invitational, the WSL Longboard Tour rankings are wide open. Australian style master Harrison Roach and three-time Longboard World Champion Honolua Blomfield currently occupy the top spots after their wins in Sydney. But with a big performance in front of the huge crowds at Huntington Beach, anyone can rise right into World Title contention. Watch live August 3-7 here at vansusopenofsurfing.com.
